VBOX products are frequently used by our customers to validate acceleration times, top speeds and fastest lap times. Over the years, our products have been chosen by automotive manufactures, race teams and individuals to authenticate results from various record attempts, most commonly top speeds (Vmax) and lap records… you’ve probably heard of the Nürburgring, right?
The VBOX is one of the most accurate ways to validate these sorts of results, and it’s all done via GPS. Time is calculated via the atomic clocks located inside GPS satellites, and the doppler shift effect of the GPS carrier frequency is monitored for an incredibly accurate measurement of speed
Here’s the latest record achievement, authenticated by VBOX…
April 2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Road America Lap Record - 2:15.17
The Porsche 911 GT2 RS has set a new production car lap record at Road America, completing the 4.048 mile road course with its 14 turns and multiple elevation changes in just 2:15,17 minutes. 24 Hours of Daytona and Le Mans class winner David Donohue took to the wheel of the 911 GT2 RS and only needed two laps to do so, underscoring not just the track capability, but also the approachability of the car. All captured and validated using VBOX products and viewed here in the intuitive Circuit Tools software.
March 2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS and 911 GT3 RS Road Atlanta lap records
For the first time these record laps are reviewed side-by-side in the Circuit Tools software revealing what happened. For most of the lap the gap is around two tenths of a second with the nimble Porsche 911 GT3RS taking time out of the Porsche 911 GT2RS before the awesome power of the GT2RS helps it pull away and take the record. The GT3RS is on the left (blue trace) and GT2RS on the right (red trace).

2017 Jaguar E-Pace achieving the furthest barrel roll in a production vehicle - 15.3 m
Jaguar Cars launched the E-Pace by breaking the world record for a mid-air barrel roll before landing it successfully on all four wheels. You can see the stunt here. The Jaguar Team was aiming to reproduce the famous barrel roll jump from the James Bond movie 'The man with the Golden Gun'.
The event was planned and developed with a combination of manned and robot-controlled jumps carried out at the Santa Pod Raceway, an hour away from the Racelogic UK office. During the first development phase the vehicle was controlled by steering, throttle and brake robots made by German company Vehico – which in turn were being fed speed and position from VBOX equipment.
